This FTP directory contains a number of GIS data/maps (zip compression) and corresponding metadata files describing the GIS data. The zip files each contain a number of ARC ASCII format grids and a text file with metadata. BCMPB.v9.AnnSev.Observed.zip - annual severity of the infestation 1999-2011 BCMPB.v9.CumKill.Observed.zip - cumulative pine volume killed by MPB, 1999-2011 BCMPB.v9.ForCumKill.Observed.zip - Cumulative pine mortality as a proportion of total forest volume, 1999-2011 BCMPB.v9.ForestData.zip - Forest cover data that may be of use. This forest cover is not current. In general, it represents the forest conditions in 2002, but it also contains data from 2004 and 2000 in places BCMPB.v9.CumKill.Projected.zip - Projected cumulative pine volume killed by MPB -with no forest harvesting, 2012-2026 BCMPB.v9.ForCumKill.Projected.zip - Projected cumulative pine mortality as a proportion of total forest volume -with no forest harvesting, 2012-2026 We are unable to distribute the forest cover data for Tree Farm Licences (TFLs). That data has been deleted from the grids in BCMPB.v9.ForestData.zip and a grid showing the 74 Timber Supply Areas (TSAs) and TFLs has been included so you can determine where these deletions have taken place. There are some other areas, primarily on Vancouver Island and in the East Kootenays where there are large areas of private land that have no forest cover data. This directory also contains a number of files. BCMPB.v9.2011Kill.pdf - 48" x 36" Cartographic map of observed percentage of pine volume killed (red- and grey-attack) in 2010 BCMPB.v9.2012Kill.pdf - 48" x 36" Cartographic map of projected percentage of pine volume killed (red- and grey-attack) in 2011 BCMPB.v9.2017Kill.pdf - 48" x 36" Cartographic map of projected percentage of pine volume killed (red- and grey-attack) in 2017 BCMPB.v9.2022Kill.pdf - 48" x 36" Cartographic map of projected percentage of pine volume killed (red- and grey-attack) in 2022 BCMPB.v9.BeetleProjection.Update.pdf - Updated Infestation Projection Report - updated to include the 2011 Provincial Aerial Overview of Forest Health BCMPB.v8.NoMgmt.SummaryOfKill.LumpedTFLs.forDistribution.xlsx - A Microsoft Excel workbook depicting the observed and projected pine loss due to the current mountain pine beetle infestation. Please consult the "Infestation Projection" report available in the Current Results section of www.for.gov.bc.ca/hre/bcmpb, to obtain further information regarding the current infestation projection. We are reasonably confident in the model's observed and projected infestation estimates at the PROVINCIAL and DISTRICT SCALES, but the specific progression of the outbreak at finer scales, such as a "watershed" or a "pixel", is most likely wrong because theses finer scales exceed the resolution of the model. The projection provided is one instance of the output from a stochastic model. It is a projection of what might happen rather than a prediction of what will happen. Please use and interpret the data accordingly. This data is provide for your use only - do not distribute. When using the data please cite: Walton A. 2012.
