Frequently-anticipated questions:

What does this data set describe?

Title: LW1
Abstract:
LW1 interim measures seed planning zone for Western Larch, version 1.0, as per the Chief Forester's Standards for Seed Use. Should be used in conjunction with the Chief Forester's Standards for Seed Use to help guide Western larch deployment beyond its contemporary range (historical and current climate envelope). See the Chief Forester's Standards for Seed Use webpage for specifics at <http://www.for.gov.bc.ca/code/cfstandards/amendmentJun10.htm>
Supplemental_Information:
The purpose of these amendments are to expand the seed transfer limits of western larch to increase species diversity, and address the potential forest health and productivity impacts associated with a changing climate. Specifically, this amendment provides for the range and population expansion of Western larch (Lw) beyond its contemporary range (historical and current climate envelope) in areas projected to be climatically suitable in the year 2030.

Why was the data set created?

In general, the LW1 polygon shows the area within which the Western larch LW1 seed source may be deployed in keeping with the Chief Forester's Standards for Seed Use. These amendments make provisions for agreement holders to plant up to 10% of Lw seedlings by management unit (or, up to 5,000 Lw seedlings for small operators). For further information consult the Chief Forester's Standards for Seed Use at <http://www.for.gov.bc.ca/code/cfstandards/amendmentJun10.htm>

  2. How were the data generated, processed, and modified?

  3. What similar or related data should the user be aware of?

How reliable are the data; what problems remain in the data set?

How can someone get a copy of the data set?

Are there legal restrictions on access or use of the data?
