Description FOREST VEGETATION COMPOSITE POLYGONS: A composite table comprising the polygon table attributes joined to the attributes from the non veg, non tree, land cover component, tree layer, tree species and tree volume tables. This SDE layer coverage contains vegetation cover from the Ministry of Forests. Attribute information is also maintained in this table. It will supersede F_FC. Vegetation Cover is comprised of spatial layers for the collection, manipulation and production of forest inventory data, which has a accompanying textual attributes. This joined table was created to support the Data Distribution Services on the LRDW.

Resource Constraints
Use Limitations Data not recommended for large scale planning. Data is not intended for navigation, it is positionally accurate to +/- 20 metres. The LRDW contains VRI information in an Oracle database environment. While storage of this information is relatively efficient the VRI dataset is large and cumbersome to use as it is currently stored. Use of this data is limited by a number of factors including the size of the VRI data (12.5Gbyte), and the difficulty in performing multiple table joins using multiple fields within the Arc Info GIS tools available for MSRM and MOF data users

Completeness Coverage is limited to TSA and Park lands of British Columbia, Large private land holdings and TFL licence area are excluded from this data.
Positional Accuracy 1:20,000. Data should comply with TRIM positional accuracy requirement of +- 20 metres 85 % or more of the time.
Attribute Accuracy Comprehensive data attribute standards exist for the VRI attribute data, which is exclusively tied to the veg_vegetation_cover_polygon shapes. The data custodian quality assures all records following their update and performs internal and external data audits. The practices, procedures and accuracy of regional update centres and contractors are also periodically audited. This data can be considered as reasonably accurate (TSA only). Data covering the TFL portions of the Province is not stored in the LRDW. THis data is the responsibility of the TFL Licensee
Logical Consistency Data must meet provincial standards and is highly consistent. Prior to release, data goes through quality assurance by contractors, regional offices, and headquarters. Data relationships and provincial code lists exist for this data set, and it is highly structured.

Process Step Description This is a spatial view with all the geometry with 96 attributes. of the land cover class code and ecological attributes for each vri polygon. Source Data Description Data is re-inventoried from aerial photographs on a long-term cycle (depending on funding 10-20 yrs), but updated on a 2 year cycle. The source format is IGDS for the spatial, and INCOSADA MDB for the associated attribute data. The VG!/VRI data following release is translated to an Arc/Info format, with the related attributes (VRI) loaded into an Oracle database. Following translation the coverage data is loaded into the RMDW SDE database.
