Generally:
Step morphology (formed around very large boulders that are not transported by stream flow) is largely intact but gaps are present so water flows around boulders in addition to flowing over steps. Finer-textured sediments remain stored upstream and downstream of boulders. Pool depth determined by boulder size. Banks consist of non-alluvial material, so channel width does not change, even in disturbed channels. |
