Guide for 1st time logon to TRIM
TRIM is a bit of a challenge to logon for the first time as
there is no default dataset established. Also the install is geared for
end-users who will use the TRIM TopDrawer rather than TRIM Context
(which is the preferred tool for records custodians).
Logging on TRIM for the first time
With the new version of TRIM you don't have
TRIM Context on your desktop but instead TRIM TopDrawer. So to launch TRIM
(TRIM Context that is) do this:
- Start, All Programs, TRIM Context, TRIM.
This will launch TRIM Context. Follow the logon info below.
- If you wish a short on your desktop, do
as above but right-click on TRIM and create a shortcut on your desktop.
If this is the 1st time you have used TRIM Context on this
PC (or terminal server) please be patient as you will get the usual server timeout
message.
- Logon as usual. Launch TRIM (which is TRIM Context).
- After a few minutes, when the pop-up appears (saying
connection failed), click Ok and then click on Advanced and uncheck Local.
It should say SLIPPER for the server name. If not, overtype the server name with
SLIPPER. Then select your dataset (FOR PROD) and press Default.
- As you have done in the past, set your preferences for using
TRIM.
- It will remember your settings the next time you logon.
If you use Top Drawer for the first time (instead of TRIM
Context) follow the same steps as above.
